The Gift of Uncertainty

Reflections from a Room Full of Beds

This is what a pilgrim’s home looks like.

A simple room with rows of bunk beds. Backpacks. And tired, dusty, and grateful pilgrims.

This photo might look ordinary. But to me, it tells a sacred story.

Because walking over 500 miles across northern Spain isn't just a physical journey—it’s an emotional and spiritual pilgrimage too. And every shared albergue, every creaky bunk, every evening surrounded by strangers, has humbled me.

There’s so much uncertainty on the Camino.

You don’t always know how far you’ll walk the next day.

You don’t always know where you’ll sleep.

And you don’t always know how your body will feel—or how your heart will.

But that uncertainty? It’s not the enemy. It’s the invitation.

It’s where my faith is tested… and strengthened. It’s where I let go of control and learn to receive. It’s where I discover beauty in the most unexpected places—like a worn cobblestone street, or the shared laughter of fellow pilgrims who started the day as strangers.

The Camino keeps reminding me that I don’t need much.Just a bed. A backpack. A good pair of shoes. And the willingness to keep going—step by step, heart wide open.

This journey is stripping away the excess. And beneath it all, I’m rediscovering what really matters:Simplicity. Connection. Faith. Wonder. Grace.

I may not always know where the path is leading…But I’m learning to trust it.And I’m learning to trust myself, too.

🩵We are all pilgrims of the heart.🩵Let’s walk this path together.🩵
