Something Greater

ree

There was a moment on the Camino that I’ll never forget.

I had been walking for hours under the heat of the Spanish sun.

My body was tired, my thoughts were full, and my heart — well, it was soft and open in the way only pilgrimage can create.

Then I saw them.

A sea of golden sunflowers swaying gently beside the trail.

And just ahead, a patch of shade beneath a tree — a resting place meant just for me.

I stopped.

I stood in the quiet.

And for a few precious moments, I felt held by something I couldn’t quite name.

A presence.

A peace.

A knowing.

Not loud or dramatic — just... there.

I still get goosebumps at the memory!

It wrapped around me like a soft afghan made by my mother.

Whispering not in words, but in light and breeze and stillness.

Sometimes we try to define everything.

To name the mystery.

To make sense of what the soul simply knows.

But standing there, shaded by a tree, surrounded by sunflowers —I didn’t need answers.

I only needed to breathe.

(And ask a fellow pilgrim to snap my pic! And I am so glad that I did!)

And I wonder now...What if that something greater is always walking beside us?

What if it’s been there all along —in the beauty, in the silence, in that unexpected pause beneath a tree?

You got this!

Let’s walk this path together.

One gentle, joy-filled step and moment at a time.
