A Quiet Moment before my Journey Begins

As I write this, I’m sitting quietly on a bench at a Pilgrim’s Gathering in South Bend, Indiana. The hum of conversation surrounds me—fellow wanderers trading stories, laughter, shared wisdom. But here I sit, still and grateful, letting my thoughts settle before the next big journey.
In less than three weeks, I’ll return to Spain to walk my third Camino Frances. Just saying that fills me with joy. Twice I’ve been called to the same path—and each time, I’ve come back changed. There’s something sacred about retracing your steps with new eyes.
Today, I found myself thinking about how I share this journey. Months ago I stepped away from Facebook. I was tempted to go back—just for a peek, just to stay connected. But I’ve come to treasure the stillness that came when I stopped the endless scrolling. There's less noise now. Less distraction. More time to be fully present—with my thoughts, my prayers, my writing.
I do still enjoy Instagram (with boundaries). But more than anything, I love putting my words into the world—not to impress or perform, but to encourage. To remind someone else (and myself) that we’re not alone. That healing is possible. That a single step can begin a powerful transformation.
Honestly, much of what I write are words I need to hear. But if they lift you up too, then what a beautiful gift that is.
This little post is a kind of test run. I’ve created a blog—The Joyful Gypsy Gal—as a home for my reflections. As I walk the Camino again this August, I hope to share my experiences there. My joys. My challenges. My moments of wonder and weariness. I’ll write not only to process what I’m learning, but to offer inspiration to anyone who needs a reminder that they, too, can walk forward in faith—even with a tired heart and dusty shoes.
So, come along. Whether you’re a fellow pilgrim, a quiet dreamer, or just someone looking for a bit of light on a cloudy day—you are welcome here.
🩵We are all pilgrims of the heart. 🩵Let’s walk this path together.🩵
